- Two Lonely Gardens Betsy Carter 3:57
What a startling revelation it was to me when I saw this truth. Only twice was God the one who offered up the sacrifice for our sins. In the Garden of Eden He covered Adam and Eve’s shame with the first death: animals for the skin to cover them. In the Garden of Gethsemane, God prepared the final Lamb to take away, not just cover, the sins of anyone who will receive His gift. God Himself is the only One who can truly give the appropriate sacrifice. There had to be a price because of God’s character of justice. But He paid it…for ME!! I love using this as a choral piece for Easter.
LYRICS:
In a lonely garden
Walking through the shadows
In the cool of the day
Mourning for His loved ones
Passed the great Creator
Seeking the innocent to slay
Only twice did God pay the price
To cover the shame of His friends
Only twice did God sacrifice
The lamb from two lonely gardens
In a lonely garden
Weeping in the twilight
Knelt Creator’s perfect plan
Left by His companions
Knowing where He’s going
Taking away the sin of man
Only twice did God pay the price
To cover the shame of His friends
Only twice did God sacrifice
The lamb from two lonely gardens
But only once was there
Paid a perfect price
A spotless sacrificial Lamb
Once for all God completed
What He began from two lonely gardens
But only once…
