I don’t remember ever hearing a sermon about the prophecy of Zechariah the Priest in Luke Chapter 1. But it impresses me greatly. It is so powerful the revelation it brings: that now people could come into the very presence of God without fear! For Israel this was an impossible thing. The high priest could only go once a year, with fear and trembling, into the Holy of Holies with the blood of the sacrifice and hopefully not be struck down! And the Gentile had no chance at all of even dreaming of such a thing. But now we have access to His holy presence and to His throne through Jesus’ and His blood. What an incredible truth! This song is used in Dear Master and The Second Day by a fictional Old Priest character. I love using it!
