I had only had six months of piano lessons as a child, and had taught myself to play with sheet music, but had no knowledge of chords and couldn’t play by ear. Then one day I sat at the piano and the Lord showed me how to play the intro to this song and the more I played, the more I learned. Through learning the acoustic guitar with a chord book, I became familiar with the concept of chords and soon He showed me how to apply that to piano. This is one of the first songs the Lord ever gave me. He taught me to play the piano more freely through this song! I was acting in a passion play as Mary Magdalene. It affected me profoundly. I would sob with every performance as His death on the cross became more and more real to me. This is my expression of the incredible sacrifice He made for me. It became a cornerstone song in the musical Dear Master and The Second Day presentation.
