God spoke to me through Scripture once again of the powerful revelation of Himself that Jesus offered the religious leadership of the day. He was not only the carpenter from Nazareth. He was not only a great teacher and a healer. He was not only the Son of God. He was the I AM. Every Hebrew knew exactly what that meant. He was claiming to be He who spoke with Moses on the mountain! He was Emmanuel, God with us. The One that Isaiah described. How bold! How powerful! How awe-inspiring. I hoped to make this a very powerful song. It moves me and is powerful in congregational use.
