- Best is Yet to Come Betsy Carter 3:41
The ministry the Lord was growing took an unexpected turn as my friend, co-writer and fellow band member moved out of state. I was so disappointed and confused, not certain what the Lord was doing. The Father grew my solo ministry, something I never desired, but I learned to trust in much deeper ways through this time. We often must face disappointment, disillusionment and discouragement in this journey. This song encourages me that loss will be a growth for me. That is not an easy thing. Loss hurts, whether it’s a relationship, health, material and financial, or in our employment or ministry. It is never pleasant. It’s so hard sometimes to do what we consider giving up. But when our dreams must be revised, we have One Who will guide us to new things. Our hope for the future truly is in Him. His best is always what He wants for us. And it’s our destiny as believers.
LYRICS:
The day the dream dies
You stare at the wall
And ask your whys
With no replies
When they tell you
It’s over and done
Don’t forget
The best is yet to come
The best is yet to come
Oh, the best is yet to come
You’ve only just begun ’cause
The best is yet to come
Oh the best is yet to come
Oh the best is yet to come
Thank God, and don’t forget
That the best is yet to come
So another tear falls
As over and over
Time just crawls down
Empty walls
So they’ve told you
It’s all said and done
But don’t you fret
Your best is yet to come
The best is yet to come…
Praise God and don’t forget
That the best is yet to come
There’ve been mountaintops in the past
You know they never last
And neither will this loss
And greater gain comes
From greater cost
The best is yet to come…
The day the dream dies…
